Jeg har fundet denne historie om ham:

T.H. Crook is referred to in some accounts as Thorvald Crook. In others he is listed as Tom. His Crook's Palace Saloon occupied at least two locations. The present Crook's Palace survives as a restaurant, casino, and bar. The tokens shown are short beer checks from Crook's.

Each evening during its boom years, Black Hawk became a rip-roaring place with many saloons and gambling dens. Sometimes both would be under the same roof. The infamous Toll Gate Saloon was one such place. A drinking establishment, billiard room, and gambling hall occupied the first floor. "Ladies of the evening" were available in the upstairs rooms. One of them is visible, in a second floor window in one of the photographs included in this chapter. In a second picture two of "the girls" are looking out of a second story window while one of Black Hawk's periodic floods rages down Gregory Street.

Typical of Black Hawk's thirst quenchers was Crook's Palace, also located on Gregory Street. Thorvald H. Crook built the original structure. It was a two story frame building with a skylight. Crook demolished it around the turn of the century and had the present Crook's Palace, of brick construction, built at the same site, on the south side of Gregory Street. Today it survives as one of Black Hawk's casinos.
